Forgiven

I have this record that seems so out of place with my typical musical fare. It’s by Los Lonely Boys and I don’t recall how I came to own it. I forget I  have it because my musical listening time these days has shrunk to my workouts. Even when I drive I typically drive in silence because I’m working and cranking the tunes just gets me rattled and blocks the subtle tones of my GPS lady. But my training music tends to have a bit of an edge, in fact there’s a Training Playlist on my iPod which certainly doesn’t include mellifluous, harmonious blues and folk influenced ditties.

I also have a Chilling Playlist though, and I found occasion to shuffle through it over the weekend and I’ll be damned if this musical masterpiece didn’t make its presence known again.

Start to finish it is a mastery of melody, harmony and tasteful musicianship. I don’t make musical recommendations anymore as I find the subjective nature of the arts requires one to seek out their own path. It’s not a good feeling to share something you love and have it trashed, ignored or maligned.

However, I will say that this record brings me joy and contentment, and who knows, it might for you too.
