At long last, I’ve reached the end of my body fat reduction efforts, commonly called a “cut.” My current stats are:
- Body Weight: 169.7
- Body Fat: 9.6%
Thanks to my meticulous tracking efforts, I can attest that the data suggesting body recomposition is possible; i.e. losing fat and adding muscle simultaneously, is true. Here’s where I was August 10, 2017:
- Lean Body Mass: 153.08 lbs
- Fat Mass: 18.92 lbs
And here’s where I stand today:
- Lean Body Mass: 153.41 lbs
- Fat Mass: 16.29 lbs
As you can see, I am now carrying 2.63 lbs less fat, even though I’m only 2.3 lbs lighter in total body weight. So I lost body fat and gained muscle mass, at the same time. I have found the Holy Grail.
My quest will now take me along the path of those who walk into a gym with delusions of grandeur: The Bulk. I will increase calories in the hopes of building muscle at a better rate than during the body recomposition, while adding as little body fat as possible. The adage claims that during a Bulk, some percentage of weight gain will be fat, but if the Bulk is started at a low body fat %, the bulk of the gains will be in lean tissue.
Let us begin collecting the data to support this age old hypothesis.
