Approaching the first month’s stop on my Minox Train

I was going to post some updated pictures, but there’s no point since I have no results yet. I’m not discouraged as results this early would be an outlier. Most guys report results at about 3-4 months. The beard is growing nonetheless of course, since I haven’t trimmed at all. The mustache is a thing of beauty, growing at what appears to be a much quicker rate than its neighbors. If I brush it out it dominates my face and gives the appearance of a beardstache. Greg Berzinsky posted a video today on Beardbrand and while I never thought I’d actually watch videos of men blow drying their beards, it’s quite captivating.

The technique is brilliant and perfectly timed for me since as I said, the stache is outpacing the rest of my facial hair. I tried it out and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t immediately make the mustache smaller and more proportional with the goatee. I can see investing in mustache wax soon.

Speaking of investing, I’ve purchased a boars bristle beard brush and it may be favorite possession at the moment. I used to comb the beard and there is absolutely no comparison to using the brush. The beard actually stays controlled and not wiry and sticking out in all directions. This picture is the longest I ever let the beard grow and trimmed it mostly because I didn’t like the way it poked out in all directions. Knowledge is power and armed with what I know now, I could have tamed the beast with boars bristles.

I’ve settled into a comfortable bearding routine now which consists of applying minox twice each day, my homemade beard oil with peppermint in between, and derma rolling twice per week. Derma rolling feels like getting tattooed so I can’t say its enjoyable, but at least it’s quick and relatively infrequent.

In summary, Don’t Shave December is almost over and I have met the challenge. I look forward to Just Don’t Shave January and will hopefully have some new sprouts of hair on my bald cheeks to talk about before Forget About Shaving February.

PS I would be remiss if I didn’t give thanks to Sam at Beardology, Adam at The Beard Solution and the fine folks at The Minox Beard Spot for their wisdom, support and guidance. And of course, Eric and his band of bearded men at Beardbrand who gave me the courage to put away the trimmers and keep on growing.
