Light as a Feather

The fat loss continues according to plan, with small cuts in calories as I go along. Fortunately, I haven’t had to drop below 1900 calories yet and I’m not dealing with any hunger issues. I put what I learned in my PT Course to the test and it’s been working quite well. Specifically, I use a food volume approach to ensure I eat enough total stuff so that my stomach gets the signal that I’ve eaten enough food. I’ve been tweaking a few things around nutrient timing, keeping my carbs low in my first two meals and then carbing up post-workout. I’m also fine tuning my protein timing, with higher protein meals post-workout as well. Probably minor impacts if any, but every little bit helps.

I weighed in this morning at 167.6 lbs which is the lowest weight I’ve been since 1993 when I was training for triathlon. The difference being I actually have some muscle mass now when in 1993, I was just skinny. I knew nothing of nutrition back then, and I’m pretty sure my diet was almost all carbs. At least very high carb, very low fat and pretty low protein.

While I’m quite lean, I’m not there yet as I mentioned recently. But it’s fascinating how even a little bit of fat loss at this stage makes a difference.

I can start to see striations in my back I hadn’t seen before, and my abs are becoming more visible.

What I’ve noticed recently, and I mean just very recently, is how much better I feel just walking around. I literally feel lighter, with less stress on my knees, ankles and even feet as I walk around. I didn’t notice it until the last couple of pounds but it’s definitely a real thing.
