You’re probably deficient in Vitamin D, or at least insufficient. How do I know? Because I supplement the hell out of my Vitamin D and I’m barely into the optimal blood levels of the stuff. You can’t get it from your food, so if you want to be topped off on this critical hormone, you need to get into your Speedo and lay out in the sun for 15-20 minutes every day. I’m guessing you probably aren’t doing that.
I’ve been supplementing my diet with 150 mcg, or 6,000 IU of Vitamin D3 every day. I finally decided to find out if that was enough, or perhaps too much. For a mere $69 I ordered up a blood test and a few days later, the results arrived. I could have gotten it done for $47, but I didn’t feel like driving the 12 miles on this particular day.
The range of Optimal levels of Vitamin D in the blood is 30-100 ng/dl, with 20-29 being insufficient, and under 20 ng/dl being deficient. Even with the dosage I take, my blood levels were 37 ng/dl. I would have bet I was much higher, perhaps even too high because 6,000 IU every day sounds like a lot. It isn’t.
I’m going to up my dosage to 8,000 IU and suggest anyone interested in their health get themselves a blood test and find out where you stand.
It’s as easy as clicking on this link, and ordering up a test. You’re welcome.
